Education Industry News

Gardens On Air A Local Farm Inc. is a 501c3 program and is in need of a minimum of $250,000 to get their building up to code to have kids from all over the country come learn. Their educational partners are Jacksonville State University,  Alabama A&M University,  and Tuskegee University. They will be showcasing all up and coming farming capabilities so they can capture the broadest reach of educational abilities.

Their mission is to build Alabama’s First “Alternative Educational Farm Day Camp” to bring students from around Alabama and the USA who are in an underserved environment, food desert, or any educational setting and teach them how we can work together to grow food in ways that they have never seen before and show them Gods wondrous miracle of food growth. They will learn how the trucking industry is a huge part of the farming industry.

They will provide an experience of farming that is all encompassing. Partnering with Alabama A&M University, Jacksonville State University, and Tuskegee University. We will have Professors that are uniquely qualified to come and talk to students. These professors are from the same backgrounds and can speak to the students in ways that others cannot.

The students will learn about Hydroponics, Aquaponics, Aeroponics, Indoor Farming, and Nutrient Film Technique Farming. They will be given an opportunity to plant their own seeds and via video watch their plants grow to harvest. At harvest they will take the plants they grew and take them to the school and they can eat what they grow.
Our farm will not only be available to this group but to any age group beyond the 5th grade level. We want to educate all that are interested in Water Conservation, Pollution Reduction, Refurbishing Buildings for Indoor Farming, Eradicating Food Deserts, and Feeding their own communities with a farm that is Local. They have already purchased a 21,900 sq. ft. building and land for $250,000, but the building is outdated and needs a complete overhaul with electricity, inner and outer wall work, and of course the equipment for the Educational Farm Day Camp.

The money raised will provide the following:

  • Completely Renovating the 21,900 Sq. Ft. Building: $100,000 (Electrical, Plumbing, Concrete Work, Walls, Outer LED Lights, and Video Equipment)
  • Hydroponic, Aeroponic, NFT, and Vertical Rack Systems: $30,000
  • HVAC: $30,000
  • Educational Materials for Kids: $40,000
  • $50,000 – Architecture Plans
