The Global Forum for Innovations in Agriculture, Europe’s largest showcase of sustainable agtech returns to Utrecht, The Netherlands from 20th to 21st June 2018, as partner of the first International Week for Smart Food Production (IWSFP). The pioneering collaboration in Europe will bring together the food and agriculture industries on a global scale for the first time and marks a significant step towards cultivating change to sustainably feed nine billion people by 2050.

As both the global food and agriculture industries face increasing pressure to improve productivity, sustainability, quality, transparency, traceability and profitability, the International Week for Smart Food Production will host multiple agriculture and food events at Jaarbeurs Expo Center and gather tens of thousands of agribusiness and food industry professionals from around the world.

GFIA Europe, part of an award-winning series of global exhibitions and conferences, will showcase hundreds of innovations that drive sustainable agriculture for increased productivity, providing solutions for a food secure future. This year’s exhibition will focus on four key sectors: indoor farming and hydroponics; aquatech; livestock and animal health; and crop production.

GFIA Europe brings together European leaders and NGOs, with farmers, agribusiness executives, innovators and scientists, to debate the biggest challenges facing sustainable agriculture. They will explore the technologies, practices and systems needed to overcome these.

With an agenda including high-level panel discussions on the role of Europe in global food security, to the role of agriculture in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, GFIA Europe will address the challenge of improving global food security. Additional partnerships with the likes of Bayer AG will provide insightful sessions on the “Food Chain Partnership – a journey of continuous improvement around the globe” and Proagrica will discuss the current challenges and commonalities to maximize European farmers’ productivity and profitability without damaging the environment.

Nicola Davison, GFIA Show Director said: “GFIA has emerged as a global authority on sustainable food production, driving innovation through exhibitions and conferences across the World. 2018 has already seen the successful edition of GFIA Abu Dhabi and we return to The Netherlands for the second edition of GFIA Europe, where we are proud partners of the International Week for Smart Food Production. GFIA Europe will run alongside a number of other pioneering agricultural events including VIV Europe, European Halal Expo and the Proagrica Future Farming Theatre.
