Update: 2015 International Congress on Controlled Environment Ag

Events

I am excited to announce the addition of two amazing speakers for the ICCEA Panama in May 2015.

First, let me introduce Dr. Ricardo Hernandez of the University of Arizona’s Controlled Environment Agriculture Center. Ricardo is currently conducting research in plant physiology in controlled environments. His current project (and part of his presentation) focuses on the evaluation of LED lights as supplemental and sole source technology for greenhouse crops including plant responses to spectral evaluation, and supplemental LED lighting comparison with conventional High Pressure sodium lighting and cool white fluorescent lighting. Ricardo is bilingual and is an excellent addition to this one of a kind international conference.

The second individual is someone I have admired and respected for more than 15 years, Dr Don Wilkerson. Dr. Wilkerson is responsible for leading Caliber’s plant production team. Prior to this position, Dr. Wilkerson served for 28 years as a Professor in the Department of Horticultural Sciences at Texas A&M University – College Station. While at TAMU-CS, Dr. Wilkerson worked in the areas of greenhouse crop production, plant nutrition and water management. He also worked closely with commercial nursery and greenhouse crop producers throughout the US, assisting with problem diagnosis and management strategies. This background has largely contributed to the successful development of the innovative vertical farming techniques used in Caliber’s plant-made pharmaceuticals operation.

Dr. Wilkerson received his Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science from Arkansas State University, Master’s in Horticulture from the University of Arkansas and Ph.D. in Horticulture from Louisiana State University.

If you don’t know anything about Caliber Bio, check out this video in which Dr Dickson Despommier and 60 minutes visit the College Station, Texas Campus.
